Ross Rankine

Quarter Midget racing veteran Ross Rankine has turned his focus to USAC open wheel racing as he competes in the USAC Ford Focus Midget Car Series for Nine Racing during the 2011 race season. The series races on five different pavement tracks in the Midwest.

Ross’s racing career began at the age of seven when he started his rookie training at the Columbus Indoor Quarter Midget races. The winter was spent learning as much as possible in order to move up to the Junior series at the start of the outdoor season.

Ross used the 2005–2008 seasons honing his skills at many club races in addition to regional and national races. The large number of races gave him many laps behind the wheel of his Robbie Stanley quarter midgets.

In 2009, Ross raced in four classes of quarter midgets at every event he attended. He earned many feature wins and championships as Ross and his team were very focused while he drove with skill protecting his equipment. Of the 110 feature races he participated in, Ross earned an astounding winning percentage of over 50 percent.

Rankine Racing traveled across the United States competing with the USAC .25 National Championship series in 2010 in addition to racing in the USAC Ford Focus Young Guns and Ford Focus Series. Ross competed on both pavement and dirt with his Ford Focus cars.

The 2011 season has started off well for Ross as he has already earned two fast time awards and two feature wins in his first two races with Kevin Gerhardt’s Western Speed racing team at Lake Havasu Speedway and the Gerhardt Classic at Madera Speedway.

Ross’s goal for this season is to win the USAC Midwest Ford Focus Series in addition to the USAC Ford Focus National Championship Series with Nine Racing. Ross is looking forward to working with Glenn Martin as his crew chief and to take him to the winner’s circle often during the 2011 racing season.
