Nine Racing Driver 1990

Johnny Parsons Jr. jumped into the Nine Racing car twice in 1990, winning a USAC Western States race at famed dirt track Ascot Park in October 1990.

Johnny has enjoyed a long racing career that includes 11 Indianapolis 500 races. His best finish was fifth in both 1977 and 1985. Johnny won over 30 midget features including the 4-Crown Nationals midget feature twice, the 1979 Hut Hundred, and the Copper Classic midget portion in 1986. In 1977, he placed 2nd in the USAC National Midget Series Championship and has been the runner-up in the championship dirt cars twice. His record includes two Silver Crown and five sprint car features. He was inducted into the National Midget Auto Racing Hall of fame in 1994.

Johnny is son of 1950 Indianapolis 500 winner Johnnie Parsons and father to sprint and midget driver Johnny Parsons III. In 2007, when Davey Hamilton came out of retirement to run in the Indy 500, Parsons replaced him as the driver analyst for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway radio network’s race-day broadcast.
