Team Apex Star Mazda Drivers Test A Nine Racing Ford Focus Midget

Brownsburg, Indiana (April 21, 2010)—To prepare for two upcoming oval track events, Team Apex Racing, USA of the Star Mazda Championship, saw the value in testing drivers Joao Victor Horto and Jorge Goncalvez in a Nine Racing Ford Focus midget. The team visited the Indianapolis Speedrome 1/5-mile paved oval track on Tuesday, April 20, in the newly configured Nine Racing Ford Focus midget. After the completion of two Star Mazda Championship events for the 2010 season, Horto and Goncalvez are ranked third and eighth respectively in the series' points standings.

"Both drivers quickly adapted to the new feel of a front engine car and started to clip off excellent lap times here at the Speedrome facility," said Glenn Martin, Nine Racing Team Manager. "We were able to secure past Speedrome USAC Midget Champion Billy Wease to help instruct the drivers on the technical aspects of turning left and getting quickly up to speed. It was a fun experience for them and they learned fast."

Nine Racing Inc. now offers a Driver Development Program for up-and-coming drivers with kart and 1/4 midget racing experience, which enables the young driver candidates to have the opportunity to test and race in the competitive pavement USAC Ford Focus series. Glenn Martin recently converted one of the team's pavement midgets to a Ford Focus midget.
