Dillon Welch
Driving the iconic 9 car for team owner Steve Lewis has been a dream of Dillon Welch for as long as he can remember. He knew that was the car driven by the best drivers, and he wanted to be that kind of driver.
From the first time Dillon sat in a race car at age seven, he knew it felt right. Ten years later, Dillon is making a name for himself with a continually improving skill set and a passion to match.
Race victories and series championships highlighted his resume as the young racer captured Junior Honda, Senior Honda and Light 160 titles driving quarter midgets in Indianapolis.
Next up was a three-year stint in Kenyon Midgets where Dillon took Rookie of the Year, Most Improved Driver, and Series Champion honors.
A one-year stop in USAC’S Regional Midget division produced three wins and eight podium finishes in just 13 races.
Now, in his first season in the USAC Mopar National Midget Series, Dillon has proved capable of running up front with the sport’s best. A pole winning qualifying effort at the Milwaukee Mile delivered an early season highlight but Dillon is most excited about the opportunity to finish the season with Nine Racing.
“The 9 has always been about winning,” Dillon said. “I think we’re a perfect match.” |
