Ali Jackson Leads At The Indianapolis Speedrome
Brownsburg, Indiana (July 13, 2011) — Ireland's Ali Jackson is getting more comfortable running at the Bryant Heating & Cooling Indianapolis Speedrome as he jumped out front in the USAC Mopar D1 Midget Series race on Tuesday, July 12, while driving the Nine Racing #9 midget, and led 12 laps in one of the series’ most exciting races of the season.
Ali started the evening off strong with a third-place finish in his 10-lap heat race. He then transferred to the 40-lap main event in third and immediately went to work charging to the front. He took the lead on lap 15 and started pulling away. However, the nose of his midget became dislodged during the early stages of the main event and blocked the air leading into the radiator and the engine began to overheat and the throttle started sticking. To save his race car and avoid a DNF, Ali had to slow his pace and faded to finish in seventh position.
“I am getting more comfortable here at the Speedrome,” explained Ali Jackson. “My crew chief Glenn Martin gave me a strong car tonight. It felt great to lead the race but when the engine began to overheat and the throttle started sticking, I had to slow down to make sure I finished the race.”
“It was good seeing Ali out in front at the Speedrome,” added Steve Lewis, Nine Racing team owner. “Ali is progressing every time he gets in the car, which is an excellent sign. We will get the car fixed quickly so Ali can return next week to keep his momentum going.”
Ali’s next race driving the #9 midget will be on Wednesday, July 20, at the Bryant Heating & Cooling Indianapolis Speedrome.
